If you are considering moving to Georgia, but are wondering which are the safest cities in Georgia to live in, you are in the right place!
Georgia Crime Rates
Good news y’all! Here in Georgia we saw the most significant decrease in property crime in the country from 2021 to 2022! There was a bit of bad news though. We did see an increase in violent crime during that same period. While our property crime rate decreased by 27%, the violent crime increased by 24%. Overall though our crime rates are near the national average.
Before we get to the list, let’s look at who created the list and how they did it. Full disclosure here! This list is not my opinion. I gathered the information from the folks over at Safewise.com who look at FBI crime statistics to rank cities in each state across the country. Our list comes from the reports they created. The information is reported voluntarily by the cities and jurisdictions.
#10 Fairburn, GA
Our 10th safest city in Georgia is Fairburn. It is located about 25 minutes SW of Atlanta and actually saw the biggest change in rating since the last report, climbing 17 spots. Fairburn is home to the Georgia Renaissance Festival each year!
#9 Jefferson, GA
Number 9 is Jefferson, located NE of Atlanta by about 55 miles. This is the first time that Jefferson has broken into the top 10! It’s a cute little town that is growing fast though!
#8 Braselton, GA
Braselton is Number 8 on our list. Braselton is about 45 minutes NE of Atlanta and is best known for auto racing at Road Atlanta and Chateau Elan where there’s something for just about everyone! It has become quite the place to visit and live!
#7 Douglas, GA
Lucky number 7 is Douglas GA. It is located in South Georgia in Coffee County. Douglas is primarily a farming town. They grow peanuts, corn tobacco and cotton. Otherwise, Walmart is the largest employer there.
#6 McRae-Helena
McRae-Helena is number 6 on our list of safest cities in Georgia. There’s not much to say about this town that was actually a merger of McRae and Helena except that its the home of a replica of The Statue of Liberty and The Liberty Bell.
We are halfway through our list!
#5 Peachtree City, GA
Moving right along to number 5, Peachtree City. I’m really glad the area is safe because most people here are traveling in golf carts. There are over 10000 households with golf carts that run on over 90 miles of pathways. Probably not a lot of road rage there.
#4 Hampton, GA
Number 4 is Hampton GA where the Atlanta Motor Speedway is located. And the Atlanta Speedway Airport. Wow, it has its own airport. I’m sure there are times when its really loud in Hampton!
#3 Tyrone, GA
Tyrone is the 3rd safest city in Georgia. It is located due North of and adjacent to Peachtree City. There are several NFL players calling Tyrone home. Maybe that contributes to their safety?
#2 Milton, GA
Milton is almost the safest city in Georgia. It’s also one of the wealthiest. Located 30 miles north of Atlanta, Milton is known for horses. It is often voted as one of the best places to live in Georgia for lots of reasons.
#1 Johns Creek, GA
Johns Creek tops our list as the safest city in Georgia! Johns Creek is not only the most culturally diverse city in Georgia, but in the entire country. Each year it hosts the Johns Creek International Festival that draws over 20,000 visitors each year.
This is just the top 10 safest cities in Georgia, right now. There are lots of safe cities in the Peach State to add to this list! If you’d like more info, just give me a call or shoot me a text! I’d love to chat with you today!
